Truth or Consequences began on radio in 1940 with host Ralph Edwards. The radio game show had stunts, surprise reunions (whcih would get its own show; This Is Your Life) & home contests. In 1950, the city of Hot Springs, New Mexico was changed to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico in honor of the radio game show's 10th anniversary. It also marked the television debut of Ralph Edwards hosting the show from 1950-51. In 1954, Jack Bailey hosted the second version of the series. But on New Year's Eve 1956, T or C comes to NBC daytime. Ralph Edwards discovered a new voice who would become a television icon. Bob Barker was the new host appointed by Ralph Edwards. Bob's duties went from 1956-65 (NBC daytime) & 1965-74 (syndication). In the syndicated years, he also did a couple of network game shows; The Family
