Launched by the 'Famous Five' ( David Frost, Michael Parkinson, Robert Kee, Angela Rippon and Anna Ford who was a late replacement for Esther Rantzen who was pregnant )in a blaze of publicity GMB soon became a ratings disaster with the BBC's newly launched Breakfast Time with Frank Bough and Selina Scott becoming the most popular breakfast choice with viewers and critics. Not long after GMB began the axe was wielded, Angela Rippon and Anna Ford were sacked for speaking out against the departure of the mission to explain chairman Peter Jay, Robert Kee was dropped, David Frost(Breakfast with Frost) moved to Sundays and Michael Parkinson teamed up with his wife for a Saturday programme.
