"Shot on black and white film in 1995, Sharunas Bartas' (an exquisite specimen of a name that sounds, well, sort of made up—but it's great for namedropping to impress clueless friends!) artistic portrayal of a rather shabby tenement and its inhabitant, along with random shots of people wandering around, perhaps with the pretense that they are doing something, as well as shots of birds landing in empty fields; speaking of empty, the film is relatively austere in most aspects: there is no discernible dialogue (though people do speak in certain scenes, which reminds one that this isn't some alternate reality where humans failed to evolve down a path that would bestow them with vocal chords—though it is mere background chatter), characters' actions are desultory, there is no distinguishable story or plot mechanics, and there is a sparseness which permeates all aspects of the film"
