The third of a four-part series about 'the freehand paintresses' who during the 1920s and 1930s were employed in the Staffordshire Potteries decorating pottery ware. Three women designers rose through their ranks to become art directors and to have their ware stamped with their names - Charlotte Rhead, Clarice Cliff and Susie Cooper.
