Things To Make and Do
1. MAKE A BUTTERFLY
What you need:
A pine needle
cellophane or crepe paper
sticky tape
pipe cleaners
What to do:
Take a piece of cellophane or crepe paper and twist it in the middle so that the outer edges become two wings.
Thread some pipe cleaner through the needle for antennae.
Tape the wings on the body to make a butterfly.
2. MAKE A BABY BIRD
What you need:
A large gumnut pod
red pipe cleaner
feathers
tiny stickers.
What to do:
Take a very large gumnut (large to avoid choking hazard) or seedpod.
Take a small piece of red pipe cleaner and fold it in half.
Poke the pipe cleaner into the centre of the gumnut to create a beak.
Now tape two feathers onto the side of the gumnut to make bird’s wings.
Two tiny stickers can be stuck onto the gumnut for eyes.
Ideas for Later
1. DO YOU LIKE TO DANCE?
Put on different types of music and move and dance to the music. Try dancing with scarves, bells, shakers, or other instruments.
2. MAKE YOUR OWN BAND
Make your own band with some musical instruments.
You may use real instruments that you have at home or make your own. A drum can be made with a pot and a wooden spoon. Simple shakers can be made with some macaroni in a plastic container.
What other simple instruments can you make?
Sing “Old MacDonald Had a Band” while you play your instruments.
