ANIMAL EGGS
• There are lots of animals that hatch out of eggs... see if you can find out about them, and look for pictures in books.
BEACH
• Next time you visit the beach, see if there is a rock pool at one end, and in the shallow water there may be little fish, starfish, anemones, shell fish, or even some seaweed.
Make and do
HOW TO MAKE A TURTLE
To make a turtle you will need:
• Egg carton bits
• Cardboard
• Scissors
• Paste
Using cardboard, cut out two legs and a small turtlehead. An egg carton piece becomes your turtle's body. Complete the turtle by pasting the legs and head onto the body. Your turtle can now play in the rock pool scene (see below).
HOW TO MAKE A ROCK POOL
To make a rock pool you will need:
• Different coloured play dough - brown, yellow
• Pieces of coloured cellophane
• Paper fish
• Bubble wrap
• A small pom pom made from pink wool
Create a rock pool from a piece of brown play dough. Into the rock pool you can add blue pieces of cellophane for the water, and drape strips of green crepe paper around the edges for seaweed. Then you can place sea creatures into the water and around the edge of the rock pool. You can make a starfish from a small piece of bubble wrap. You can also make sea worms from yellow play dough and a crab from a fruit wrap with play dough pincers. Add the turtles you made using egg carton for their bodies (See Make and Do above). You can cut a small pink wool pom pom into a sea anemone. Your rock pool is finished !
PLAYGROUND
To make a playground you will need:
• Assorted boxes and cardboard
• Cardboard tubes
You can create a playground for your toys using different sized cardboard boxes, pieces of cardboard and tubes. A seesaw, a slide, and a tree to climb.
