Ideas for later
A mother gorilla likes to carry her baby on her back. There are other animals who do this… see if you can find out about them and other ways to transport the young e.g. a mother cat carries her kittens carefully in her mouth.
LIVING IN A TREE HOUSE
Make up your own story about living in a tree house, or in a cave, and use some toys, or cylinder people to help create it, either in the garden, or if you are indoors, you could use a big cardboard box.
Make and Do
To make a caterpillar platter you will need:
• A rectangle of plain cardboard
• 4 green paper plates
• Tape
• Texta
• Dried fruit
• Fresh fruit
• Fresh salad vegetables
• Sheep or other shaped, home made biscuits
Using sticky tape attach the four green plates to the piece of cardboard to look like a caterpillar. Draw in the eyes, mouth and antennae using textas. Decorate your caterpillar platter with fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, biscuits and dried fruit.
To make a sheep pen you will need:
• Some cardboard cylinders,
• Drinking straws
• Sticky tape
Use four cardboard cylinders to form the posts for your sheep pen. Use the straws to join the cardboard cylinders to form the sides.
Now you have a sheep pen for a toy lamb, or other toy animal.
