Ideas for later
CREATE A POLAR BEAR REGION
• Create a polar region inside, using an old white sheet draped over some cushions. A polar bear could be made from a soft pillow with sticker eyes and legs formed from the pillow using rubber bands or wool.
FIND THE BROWN BEAR
• Brown bears hibernate in winter. Find out about this, and look at some storybooks in the library that feature bears.
Make and Do
To make swirly patterns you will need:
• A baking tray full of shaving foam
• A spatula
• Containers of edicol dye of different colours
• Wooden spoon
• Paper
• Piece of cardboard
Smoothed out the foam with a spoon, put a little of various colours onto the foam, swirled it with the thin end of wooden spoon, put a piece of paper on the foam, press lightly and then peel it off. Then you wipe the foam away with the piece of cardboard, creating a colourful marbled picture.
To make flowers you will need:
• Fluoro plastic cups
• Paste
• Cotton wool balls
• Marbled paper, made earlier
• Scissors and sticky tape
• Straws
Teo added a cotton wool centre, with paste, to the fluoro plastic cup (cut into petals)
Then he folded the marbled paper over twice and cut a petal shape, adding a straw stem to finish the flower.
