Natsume Reiko was once alienated by people because she had the power to see monsters. In order to escape the loneliness, she challenged these monsters to duels. She took away their names, binding them to obedience, and put the names in a contract book called the “Yuujin-chou”. Her grandson, Natsume Takashi, has now inherited Reiko’s ability to see monsters. He obtains the "Yuujin-chou" and, instead of fighting the monsters, resolves to return to them their names and freedom. Since then, various monsters have begun to gather around him…
