If manners maketh man, mischief maketh Peter Mandelson. Why else would this arch-political schemer invite cameras to follow him during Labour's ill-fated election campaign to observe and eavesdrop on the most personal of encounters and sensitive of conversations? As TV viewers we can give thanks that he did because the end result is something quite remarkable - a fly-on-the-wall documentary in the best traditions of the genre that offers a stripped-down view of politics in its rawest, most compelling form. Mandelson is deliciously indiscreet. There's not a press officer in sight as he gives film-maker Hannah Rothschild - it was her multimillionaire brother that Mandelson holidayed with in Corfu in 2008 - apparently unfettered access to his appointments diary. He rounds on journalists, taunts George Osborne and even expresses his frustrations with Gordon Brown. "I have given up on him. I would settle on his tie being straight," he opines in the back of his ministerial car. Oh, and we see him in his underpants, but don't let that put you off
