When Charlie gets it into his head that he and Itchy must "get back to their roots", he concocts a wilderness trek for them. Though totally unsuited for the wilds, Charlie pretends he's in touch with his "wolf" side. But when they meet a lost little scout named Charlotte, he finds himself in a battle of "gut instinct" vs. "camping know-how." Only when Itchy gets hurt do Charlie and Charlotte drop thier feuding to pool their talent to get themselvess and Itchy out of a raging forest fire.
