As part of a school project on insects, the teacher organises an insect exhibition and all the kids are asked to bring in an insect for a competition to be judged by a scientist from the natural history museum. Jerry brings his ant, which is immediately recognised by the scientist as a spectacularly rare specimen. Coveting the ant for his collection at the museum the scientist steals the ant from Jerry with the help of some very shady looking characters. Despite getting help from the three friends, Jerry is unsuccessful in his attempts at freeing his little friend. In the end, the ant manages to escape on its own and with Jerry ever on its mind completes the difficult trek back to Jerry's house, sneaking unseen into Jerry's bedroom and snuggling up next to Jerry who's just having a nightmare. Startled by his dream, Jerry sits up suddenly in his bed, and laying his head back down on the pillow, crushes the poor little ant.
