After missing model Stephanie Donovan turns up dead on a park bench, Natalie notes that she seemed to have been treated well for someone held against her will. This leads Nick to doubt if she really was kidnapped. At the club Raven for a photo shoot to meet Stephanie's photographer Max Henkel, Nick is reminded by Janette just how much model Lucy Preston looks like Sylvaine Montrachet, a ballerina Nick idolized one hundred years ago. Then, after telling Nick about an offer to appear in a men's magazine, Lucy is kidnapped while leaving the club. Considering Max their prime suspect in Lucy's disappearance, even after finding him dead from an apparent suicide along with a note admitting he killed both girls, Nick insists on continuing with the investigation. Recalling a visit to Sylvaine's dressing room with Lacroix, Nick remembers killing her after discovering that her purity was only a ruse, while Natalie proves that Max was actually murdered. Meanwhile, Lucy finds herself being held in a luxurious prison cell by Stephanie's killer and Max's assistant Charlie Murdidge. Realizing that someone wanted to keep Lucy from appearing in the men's magazine, Nick thinks back to his own irrational infatuation with Sylvaine and then asks Schanke to meet him at Charlie's house. After offering sexual favors to Charlie, Lucy manages to escape into the night before he can kill her to uphold his own idealized vision of her purity. Insisting he is only out to protect her, when Charlie struggles with Nick, he is killed by falling onto a pitchfork. Finally, Nick tells Janette that killing Sylvaine has deterred him from killing ever since.
