After witnessing a convenience store robbery, Captain Stonetree surprises the pair of young bandits, killing teenager Eddie Shore as his partner Billy Sewell escapes. However, when investigators fail to turn up a weapon or any evidence to substantiate his claim, Stonetree is subjected to intense scrutiny by Internal Affairs investigators. Meanwhile, when Nick recalls his own guilt over one of his early killings, he sees his victim while searching the scene of Eddie's death. Though Natalie's examination seems to back-up Stonetree's claim, Inspector Kramer insists on a weapon or the slugs to accept the story. As Nick continues to be plagued by visions of Alexandra, Stonetree grows increasingly restless and insists on going back to the scene to look for evidence himself. As he is visualizing the shooting, Stonetree remembers seeing a tow truck at the end of the alley, unaware he is being followed by Billy. Meanwhile, when he spots Alexandra amid a cluster of waiting passengers, Nick carelessly abandons his car and leaps aboard a bus while trying to find her. Tracing the tow truck to a local junkyard and led to a van that was towed at the time of the shooting, Stonetree locates the two slugs fired at him by the fleeing robbers. However, as Billy emerges from the shadows to take Stonetree hostage, Nick learns the captain is being pursued by Sewell and flies to the junkyard to save him. But, before he can find them, Nick is surprised when Alexandra appears, revealing that she was given eternal life by Lacroix and has returned to seek revenge. When an attempt to escape is thwarted, Stonetree is forced by his captor onto a bridge to be killed. Ignoring his pleas, Billy insists that, by killing the captain with his own gun, his death look like a suicide induced by grief about Eddie's shooting. Meanwhile, Alexandra nearly kills Nick with a jagged stake before he impales her on a long metal bar and heads to rescue Stonetree. Finding Billy taking aim with the captain's pistol, Nick swoops down to save Stonetree from certain death and allows him to arrest his assailant and clear his name in the shooting.
