John Tundall, Billy's boss, discovers that his ex-wife and her new husband, Ben Webster, have returned to Lincoln with a plot to blackmail him. Garrett and Billy are at a loss to prevent the subsequent showdown. After Tundall is wounded, Billy and Pat find themselves on opposite sides of the law.
