Mary, Tom, Martha, Cathy, and George are in a courtroom with Grandpa Raymond Larkin. Raymond enters and accuses the Shumways of trying to get rid of him. Martha says she would never do that to her pop. The judge thinks that Grandpa Larkin is crazy since he can't remember anything he does. Larkin does not want to go back to the Shumways, so Tom says Grandpa Larkin can stay with them. Grandpa Larkin says they have a lumpy couch, but it's better then anything 'Shumway' can offer. Tom, Mary, and Raymond arrive at the house. Grandpa wants to see Heather, but Mary prevents him from seeing her. Tom gets the stuff for Grandpa to sleep on, such as sheets for the couch. The next morning, Grandpa, Mary, and Tom are eating breakfest. They have conceived an alibi to tell Heather for why Grandpa Raymond Larkin is with them--his room is being painted.
