Shane is beaten black and blue again by his father. Dot collapses with a suspected ulcer. Marlene's mum and dad assist her in arranging the dance marathon. Joan learns she won't get custody of Shane without a job. Everyone else is overjoyed Joan has been sacked until Joyce tells the officers the union has ordered they strike in support of her.
