The Sliders land in the ocean, and swim to the nearby beach, where they realize California has become a chain of islands. They enter the dense undergrowth, feeling that something is watching them. They're right: something chases them. They evade the vaguely-human creature, then it leaps on Quinn (Jerry O'Connell). Maggie (Kari Wuhrer) grabs a rock and knocks it out. Hearing more growls, they rush off. Elsewhere in the jungle, Rickman (Neil Dickson) sneaks up on a half-human creature and plunges a needle into its neck. He then injects himself, taking on the hybrid's features.
