This was Walter O'Malley's shining dream: a privately-built stadium. It was what landed the Dodgers in L.A. in the first place. Over 34 years, Dodger Stadium was a temple of baseball stability (only Walter Alston and Tommy Lasorda managed the home team). But of the four World Championships the Dodgers won between 1963 and 1988 inclusive, only the first was won on home turf.
