Standup comedy from the famous improvisational comedy club in Los Angeles, usually aired at 11:00PM on various nights on A&E. At first the guest hosts were showbiz veterans such as Phillis Diller and Milton Berle, but later the emphasis changed to attract a younger, hipper crowd (e.g. MTV's Martha Quinn). Performers were mostly young talents such as Richard Belzer, Arsenio Hall, Michael Keaton, and Paula Poundstone. An earlier version of An Evening at the Improv was syndicated in 1981-1983 with Budd Friedman as host.
