Bozo's Circus was the Chicago-produced version of the classic children's TV show that debuted in the 60s. For a long time, many cities had their own locally-produced "Bozo" show. However, the WGN version known as "Bozo's Circus" was the best-known one, and eventually became The Bozo Show in 1980. Bozo's Circus debuted on September 11, 1961. Starring Bob Bell as Bozo, the show was an instant hit. It would continue to be a hit and outlasted all the other "Bozo" shows. It went national in 1974, and became The Bozo Show in 1980.
