It's never easy to recover from a defeat and Birgitte is forced to recognise this after Jacob Kruse's victory in the battle for the leadership of the Moderates. However, Birgitte has not lost her political ambitions, and quietly chooses to start a new party. She does so especially in light of the anger she feels over the Danish immigration legislation that Lars Hesselboe is once again tightening up via a new bill, with the help of Birgitte's old party: a law that will make it harder to be a foreigner in Denmark. In an attempt to make a difference, Birgitte allies herself with Katrine, who is to be the press secretary for the new party. In addition, Nete Buch of the Moderates also shows her support for the project by joining the new party. When Birgitte's friend and old ally Bent Sejrø hears about the project, he becomes very angry. Sejrø explains that he cannot remain friends with Birgitte if she abandons his old party by creating a new one.
