Second of a two-part documentary about the life of food writer Elizabeth David. 2 of 2: Chris Patten travels to Venice, Tuscany and the island of Capri where David spent eight months in 1952 researching a book on Italian food. Patten then travels to France, the food of this country being the focus of David's second book. Her personal life, however, was in turmoil. Her marriage had failed and an illness had resulted in her losing her sense of taste.
