Villa have already beaten Chelsea once this season, overturning Didier Drogba's early strike at Villa Park with goals from defenders Richard Dunne and James Collins, but it is eight years since they last triumphed at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal also face West Midlands opposition in the shape of Birmingham. Arsene Wenger's Gunners have only lost once in their previous 16 games in this fixture and can ill-afford a slip-up as they strive for their first silverware in five years. However, their hosts have exceeded expectations in their first season back in the top flight and could prove obdurate opponents.
In the late kick-off, defending champions Manchester United are in action at neighbours Bolton, where they have only lost once in more than 30 years. Owen Coyle's Bolton need the points as desperately as United as they strive to maintain their Premier League status.
