All you need is a plastic lid for the island, small plastic containers for the houses and boats, small plastic bottles for people, lids for a dog and cat, and lots of imagination. COUNTING BOATS • Next time you are near a busy harbour, or river, count all the different sorts of boats you can see. When you return home, you could paint a picture inspired by what you saw. Make and Do HOW TO MAKE CARS AND PEOPLE To make Cars and People you will need: • A rectangular plastic lunch box • Colourful plastic bottle lids • 3 x juice bottles • Tape Attach the bottle lid "wheels" to the plastic lunch box "car" using tape. The three juice bottles become the people - place them in the car and take them for a ride. HOW TO MAKE PAPER LANTERNS To make paper lanterns you will need: • Cardboard cylinders, painted • Streamers in different colours • Colourful ribbon • Paste Rip the streamers into small pieces and paste them onto the painted cylinders to make colourful lanterns. Through previously made holes at the top of the cylinders thread a length of ribbon. Tie the ribbon at the top to form the lantern's handle.
