When a priest is murdered, a parishioner with a history of mental illness is charged with the crime, but the investigation leads Sara and Jake into a connection between the Vatican and World War II. Meanwhile, Sara's affair with Conchobar becomes serious, and Jake is frustrated by Sara's indifference to his police training.
