Ephram and Amy go to the prom together as friends, but after they encounter his ex-girlfriend Madison (recurring guest star Sarah Lancaster) and Amy realizes that Ephram is still brokenhearted, Amy decides not to tell him that she has romantic feelings for him. Meanwhile, Linda (recurring guest star Marcia Cross) ponders leaving Everwood. And Dr. Brown's mentor, Dr. Donald Douglas (recurring guest star Philip Baker Hall), asks him to perform risky brain surgery--on Douglas himself.
