A failed highland charge marked the end of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the House of Stuart's attempt to take over the crown of Scotland from the English House of Hanover. This second Jacobite rebellion was crushed on a rain-soaked moor outside Inverness by the now infamous ""Butcher of Cumberland"", the Duke of Cumberland, son of George II.
