From the day she was born, Marie was dealt a difficult hand in life. The 49-year-old Sophia Loren look-alike was born into an Italian-mob family in Harlem, New York. When her parents' marriage dissolved, Marie grew up without a father, and she and her mother struggled with extreme poverty. An incredibly smart woman, Marie wanted to go to college. But at the urging of her very traditional mother, she gave up her dream and got married at 17. Marie was unhappily married three times, but had three beautiful children. Determined to give her children everything she didn't have in life, Marie threw herself into building them up, but never truly found happiness until she became a successful matchmaker. Despite her own tragic love life, she was a master at pairing up strangers. Marie became a well-known socialite and gained national notoriety in a matter of months. She graced magazine covers and appeared on shows like 60 Minutes, 48 Hours and The Howard Stern Show. Then Marie met the love of her life, her fourth husband, Bora - an addict and alcoholic. Marie tried to clean him up, but ultimately he was the catalyst for Marie's own addiction to alcohol. Within a year of her wedding date, Marie slipped into full-blown alcoholism. She lost her business and became a falling-down drunk. Now, seven years later, her children and mother are at their wit's end. Bora died last summer due to complications with alcohol and Marie is headed down the same road -- fast. Marie's family knows an intervention is her last hope.
