Sooty is inventing all kinds of inventions. He starts with a Sweep wakener, then an Automatic Matthew Wakener, then an Autofeeder which gives Matthew his breakfast without using his hands and leaves Matthew in a mess! Then they have a visit from a salesman with more automatic inventions. He gives Matthew an automatic stain on his shirt and the salesman can't get rid of it, then a muscle stimulator, also an Automatic Hammer. Then, Matthew shows Clifton(the salesman) his Automatic devise, which is an AUGR(A Automatic Unwanted Get Rid-offer) to get rid of Clifton. Then Matthew, Sooty, Sweep and Soo go to the builders yard to get stuff to build an extention. Matthew is envolved with another one of Sooty's inventions which is a Build-O-Matic, in the end when they are back home they sing a song about 'Automatic everything'.
