The cubs are scared of the ""widder"" Jones who lives on Crooked Lane. They believe the rumors that she is a witch. Mama convinces them that ""widder"" Jones is a nice lady who loves childern, and quilts with her. The cubs decide to go visit her house. Too Tall and his gang tell Brother, Sister, Lizzie and Cousin Fred that ""widder"" Jones turns cubs into stone. Too Tall tells Brother and his friends to go to the ""widder"" Jones house first. Sister, Lizzie, and Cousin Fred enter her house, but Brother is wandering around in her yard, he sees a vampire statue and thinks she turned Lizzie into stone (Lizzie dressed as a vampire). When he looks in the window he thinks ""widder"" Jones is being mean to his friends, but she is just giving them candy. They discover she is a kind old woman who loves cubs and Halloween. They get back at Too Tall and his gang by playing tricks on them with ""widder"" Jones decorations.
