Samantha is anxiously awaiting the results of her O Level exams, but Simon is distracted and unhappy mood, so that does not seem aware of her worry. He is just as vague at the office, so that he does notice Derek trying to confess to him that he has lost #5,000 from the company accounts. Isobel then comes into the office to ask permission to but a new door handle for the kitchen cupboard. Seeing that Simon is preoccupied, she asks to have a new kitchen. He absent-mindedly agrees. Samantha telephones the school for her results and is amazed. Derek plucks up the courage to tell Simon about the missing finances. He is unconcerned. Derek them makes Liz shout at him because he deserves it. Later, by chance, he finds the money, and tells Liz she owes him an apology.
