In the series premiere of Hyperion Bay, Dennis Sweeney returns home to Hyperion Bay to start up a branch of the company he works for, Muse Prime. He brings along his girlfriend, Jennifer Worth
On the way into town, they stop for gas and run into Trudy and Nelson Tucker, who run the gas station. Trudy is obviously a little attracted to Dennis. After Dennis and Jennifer drive away, Nelson reminds her of how he used to beat Dennis up everyday at school. Later Jennifer asks Dennis if Trudy was his girlfriend back in school, but he informs her that they were not even in the same league back then. She was a cheerleader who wouldn't give him the time of day. Jennifer tells him that she also used to be a cheerleader, and he teases her just a little, ""Hey, I got me a cheerleader.""
Dennis's parents have a welcome-home barbecue for Dennis. There is an awkward moment when Dennis explains to his father why he didn't choose his father's construction firm to renovate the old cannery for Muse
