Revival is the "final vision" of Evangelion's theatrical productions, as intended by series creator Anno Hideaki. It combines parts of the final two movies, Evangelion: Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion, into a single feature presentation. Revival is how the Evangelion films were intended to be released if GAINAX had not encountered the financial and scheduling issues that marred the latter stages of Eva's production. It is a "complete" ending, or in the words of Anno: "this is the ending you were asking for".
