The series follows the conversations between a mysterious figure who sits in the corner booth at the back of a diner and whomever comes to see him. A number of seemingly unrelated people come to The Man, and ask for a certain desire. He then gives them a task, seemingly at random. Once they perform the task they get what they desire. He admits that he does not give them what they want - it simply happens.
