In the early hours of April 25, 1915, an Australian submarine crept into the Dardanelles Strait on what many believed was a suicide mission. Commanded by an Irishman called Henry Stoker, the AE2's mission was to attack Turkish shipping, disrupt enemy supply lines and generally "run amok".
